What is a 5G CPE device?

As mentioned earlier, these devices are like mini-hubs that convert 5G signals into Wi-Fi or LAN network connections. This allows users to connect multiple home and office devices configured for 5G services wherever available. Even in some areas where broadband connectivity is not available, the device can connect to the high-speed 5G Internet simply by connecting to a 5G CPE device with a 5G SIM card installed.

How does the device work?

Oppo is working with Qualcomm on 5G CPE devices. The device is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon T X625G Modem-RF system. Oppo claims that by further optimizing it, the device can improve data transfer rates by more than 20% compared to the platform baseline. There are antennas that Oppo has added O-Reserve 2.0 smart antenna technology. It monitors the signals received by the eight antennas in real-time and selects four of these antennas to form a downlink route based on gain intensity and signal quality.


What does a 5G CPE device look like?

Oppo chooses minimal design aesthetics and the device looks like a slightly larger version of the previous generation Amazon Echo speakers. It has a white cylindrical body and a textured surface that makes it more dustproof and dirt resistant. The new Oppo T2 5G CPE is partially made from PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled Plastics) derived from consumer products that are said to reduce carbon emissions.

When and where are 5G CPE devices available?

Oppo has partnered with many of the world’s leading carriers to expand the spread of 5G around the world, enabling more users to benefit from improved 5G services. Oppo CPET 2 will be available later this year. Oppo has reached an agreement with operators in the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and Europe to empower more people with the connectivity of 5GCPE.
